If you don't have an issue with ride height, I'd suggest what ever brand you go with go with a 13" shock.

Did the Ohlins and love them. I'm sure lesser expensive alternatives are very good too.

Oh, I did the taller 13" shocks for more cornering clearance and more suspension travel over bumps.

I also did the JRi 13Bs from Howard at Motorcycle Metal. It's hard to explain in specific terms but the ride is so much better. The bike feels steady and connected to the road. No bottoming, no topping out. Every click of the adjuster results in a discernible difference. You know when you find the perfect setting. Howard is an amazing source of information. Progressives are better than stock and cheaper than some others but they are nowhere near as good as the other brands mentioned. Do it right the first time. Talk to Howard and you'll get an education.
I also highly recommend you go with 13" shocks. You really need every bit of suspension travel to get the best ride. Many people I know have put their Street Glides and Road Glides back to their proper height and don't regret it.

Now that is what I like to hear. I have some JRI B shocks coming tomorrow to replace my Progressive 940 shocks.

Hey guys... I don't want to sound like I'm advertising but I've just GOT to throw this out there...

We have a BUNCH of guys from HDF purchase the Arnott Air Ride and it has been a VERY VERY SUCCESSFUL product for us!

A lot of our customers have gone with the basic Air Ride Billstein kit for $509.00 and it ROCKS! It won't bottom out... even with TONS of weight on the bike!

There is a 100% money back guarantee so we will give you a full refund if you don't like it!

Curious, what didn't you like about the Ohlin's, or why the JRi better?

To the OP you might try just riding it for awhile and letting the shocks break in, it seems to take about a thousand miles or so for everything to loosen up a bit...also you might try a few different air setting, I found that what I thought was too hard (to much air) was actually too little air...and if all that doesn't work buy the JRI shocks they are great...the ride is nicer and they help the bike handle much better ...

I had the same shock setup on a Road Glide for 5 years and you are right the ride gets a little better but not by much. I almost bought an Ultra Limited so I am going to calm the SG ride down a little just to get rid of the choppy ride. I'm going to go out today and fiddle w/different air pressure just to see though....maybe I should get a fat chick to ride beeitch

I was running the Ohlin's #3-#3 which is a 13" shock , my bike came with a 12" shock , when Howard got the JRi line in the 12" JRi B's have the same length of stroke as the Ohlin's #3-#3 , so I could go back to a 12" shock without sacrificing ride quality , so I switched , the Ohlin's and JRi are a far better ride than the Progressive 940's and Ricor , the JRi are a slightly better ride than the Ohlin's but I feel are built better , the ride difference from Ohlin's to JRi isn't enough to warrant switching if you own Ohlin's and have the correct length you want , but if purchasing new is enough to go with JRi over Ohlin's
