idle Problem 06 ultra
I am kind of new to this. I am having a problem with my idle increasing when I am at a light. The mechanical is at the proper adjustment. As well as the throttle and idle cables. The idle goes as high as 2000 rpm's. I did notice that if you shut it down it will reset to normal. But after a couple of miles it starts increasing again. I do have a service manual but no troubleshooting manual. Any thoughts on where to start. Or has anyone had a similar problem. Thanks. Terry

Turn off and on I think it is three times and that resets the codes in system. If that doesn't help try and check for a short going to map sensor. I have a 2010 and mine is throtal by wire.so the systems could act different for same problem.

I can stop(not shut down engine) my 12 rkc when I get home from work and it's idling at 950 or so. I open the garage door, stow my helmet and gloves, come back to pull it in and its at 1100 or so. Weird but not enough to need to fix or diagnose.
Here's a quick and easy tip: 1. Remove the IAC (Idle Air Control) Valve, take some carb cleaner and spray it onto a shop towel, gently clean the IAC plunger and the IAC passage, re-install IAC. 2. Re-move air cleaner, open throttle, spray carb cleaner on a shop towel and gently clean the throttle bore, re-install air cleaner. 3. Fire it up and take it for a ride and see if it acts up again. Hope this may help you out.
I agree with checking out the IAC ..I have cleaned mine as it had the same symptoms.Good Luck...

Strange chit. I also have a 06 Ultra, the other day riding home from work while stopped at red lights or stop signs mine wouldn't idle. I haven't had it out since, it's been raining for the past 3 days. In the past I have had good results cleaning the IAC on other bikes, might have to clean mine up. Not sure yet. Good luck.
