Default Brakes for my Ultra.

Spring is just around the corner and that means riding, lots of riding, but first I want to replace all the brake padson my '02 Ultra. Sothis got me towondering, what kind and brands of brake pads do you use. Also, what kind of service you got from what you installed...Do you have a dealer or web business who sells pads at a reasonable price...(cheap is me)

I want to put something on my scoot that will stop me quickly and safely so let me know your ideas and choices.

Thanks and think spring...

Quickly, safely and cheap don't belong in the same paragraph. I use Harley pads, get them from Chicago HD or Suburban HD at a discount.

The word cheap describes me. Iwas just lookin for reasonable priced pads that were maybe manufactured out of better materials other then stock.

I switched to Lyndall Z- Plus Pads - little more expensive but they work great - from other threads, appears to be a common switch, have never heard anything negative. Can order them direct if you want...

Have used this brake pad on the three Ultras I've owned.

EBC FA299.

I buy these from a local Indy, cannot remember the price. These are organic pads meaning that they are not prown to squeeling, do not require heating up first for a good friction coeficient and are rotor friendly, meaning the pads wear faster then the rotors. Have had to make a few emergency high speed stops with wife aboard, could not ask for better brakes, other then, wish we had ABS. Sorry, can't remember price but very reasonable.

Harley pads suck. They are too hard, which makes them noisy and causes your rotors to have a short life.

I use EBC Kelvar. I get them for 19 bucks a pair from Jireh Cycles. I have used them for over 60k miles with no complaints.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I took a look at the Lynall web page and liked what I read. I'll defenately keep them in mind.

As for the other brands someone suggested, is there a web page address where I can take a look at them?

Thanks again and ride safe...

Default RE: Brakes for my Ultra.

I researched the Lyndall Z pads thoroughly and decided these are the ones
I am going to go with.

I looked around for a discount cycle parts house to buy them and located
www.cyclespot.com . Their price for these brakes is where I want to be in
shelling out my hard earned bucks.

Thanks for all you help...
