in the game of trading with car dealers, understand you can't insult them, and if you do WHO CARES!. Offer them $16K cash and see what type of reaction you get, at least it tells them you are not going to bend over. Whats the worst that can happen? They agree to your offer.....

If there's a Harley dealer in the area, take her for a test ride over there and let the pros give it once over. Even if they charge you a few bucks for their time, it'll be worth it in the end.

I guarantee the car dealership took it in below book or they wouldm't have taken it on trade. With a newer harley like that they got a buy bid from the harley dealer before they made the deal. I actually think there is a deal to be made there if your smart. It's a big liability for them to have it on the lot as some salesman will try to ride it. They didn't want to take it on trade so they bought it right.

Actually, they said they always keep a bike or two. I have a 2007 Stratoliner S. Its a jap cruiser. 113 ci. Its a good bike and I don't mind keeping it. I have listed it for $7,800 and the dealer offered me $6k for it. They have theirs listed for $18,900 (told me they would let it go for $18,500). I told them, OK, I'll take $1,800 off what I am asking if you take $900 (which is half) off what you were originally asking. They actually come out better because I am taking twice as much off a bike that is worth a third of the price. So, I said I will give you $18,000 for yours if you give me $6,000 for mine. They could probably make a grand off the road glide and at least $1,300 or more off mine.

The salesman I was working with said that his manager just looked at my offer and walked away without speaking.

Oh well. We were only 500 bucks apart. The tax savings from the trade in would have basically washed the doc fee that they wouldn't waive.

I'll let em sit on it a few days. Maybe they will call me back. If not, I got time.

Look at a Street Glide instead. Road Glides are fuggly. jk

I would be very leery bying it from there unless they can or will show you everything is on the up and up.Or you can talk down to deal you feel you cant pass up.Its your call.

I would say it's an average deal. As for a bike being at a car dealer, I wouldn't worry about it. I needed out from under a bike and a car about 3 or 4 years ago and couldn't sell it outright so I ended up trading both in on a new vehicle for the wife.

CRZYLGZZ nailed it IMO. If they want to move the bike, you have room to negotiate. Don't let them rape you, lol. Warranty, since PO did the cams, its HD's call. Bike is a 12 with low miles, if it runs good I say go for it.
