I'm going to test the kickstand theory and use the plywood test (had already done something very similar with a plank but not quite as good as it doesn't get the length in)

So, if I read correctly with my extendeded floorboards I should hear a scraping sound on a good turn?

Has nothing to do with a good turn. You can scrape in a parking lot.

The spring doesn't have to be a bad for the Jiffy Stand to scrape, many streets have a slight rise where it joins another street and that little bump will cause the spring to stretch just a tad. If you ever pick up a jiffy stand, you can understand why the weight of it helps flex the spring on bumps. The stands are very close to the road in left turns, so the spring doesn’t have to stretch much for the stand to scrape. You will get to where you see it coming.

Tab on the Jiffy Stand. I have had them sharpen up like a knife, actually had our wrench have to get stitches in his hand from the one on my 08. Now he hits it with a file before he services to take the edge off.
