Default Lifter pricing

I'm got all the parts together for my cam swap and it was recommended to change the lifters also (14k on the clock). so I've been reading and checking pricing, and the Woods directional lifter are 2+ times as much as Feuling HP+ Superpump Lifters 4000. Are they really worth the extra $$$. You get what you pay for right? Just installing the tw222 to go along with PV, decattted head pipe, Big sucker and slip ons. Any thoughts?

Woods products are one of the few exceptions to "you get what you pay for" overpriced hype.

Gaterman, oem 'b', and S&S are at the top of the list.

personally I believe lifters are lifters for most bikes (and cars for that matter)...If you are using a super duper cam I would go with something tougher than normal, but otherwise I would just buy normal price lifters (not the super cheap ones), and I would probably not replace the ones in the bike if they have not been making noise or show signs of abnormal wear...and, just FYI from what I understand stock late model chevy small block are the same as the harley ones, so you should be able to get them at Napa etc.....do a search on this forum it has been covered in the past..

I got mine from V-Thunder.com. Same as Chevy lifters. Paid $14 each for them.

I've been through 3 sets of lifters in 7,000 miles. Don't go cheap on the lifters. Comp lasted 3k, Delco LS1 Chevy lifters lasted 4k. Just installed a set of gatermans last night. I hope I'm done with lifters for a while.....

You may have other issues if your lifters are only lasting 3-4000 miles.........

How deep are you setting the pushrods? I went 4 turns on my S&S pushrods but still have ticking. I'm thinking of going 5 turns. I'm also using Gatermans.

I went 4 turns this time, and the last 2 times with different lifters. You may want to look at your push rod tubes. I found a couple of marks at the top of mine that indicated the rods were hitting the tubes. I used a burr bit to open up the top inch or so, and I think that was at least part of my noise. Those S&S pushrods are really fat compared to the stockers. The offending tube on mine was the front cylinder exhaust. I just went for a short ride, and it's as quiet as it was when hd
Built it.

You should be fine with gaterman or feuling. The tw222 is a pretty mild cam that won't give you lift/compression related issues. You are going to like the setup. I went with the Feuling lifters when I did my 26H cams along with Andrews adjustable pushrods and new covers. Used the SE bearings as they are the same maunfacturer as Torrington. Enjoy! Ride safe and often.
