True, no matter what u use, some people will never see anything but I have seen to many times people start to turn in front of me then all of a sudden stop when they see the flashing light so I know it works on most people and I'll take what ever extra protection I can get but you still gotta ride like your invisible

Unfortunately those Thursday night bike nights take there tolls here in Florida!

I know when I was stationed in Miami (State Trooper) EVERY Thursday night we were called to at least one motorcycle fatality those nights!

Got to stay alert, drive defensively, and not be impaired

[QUOTE=Wykd;11285601]Yeah I got lucky yesterday i was riding along a stretch of highway (in the right lane) and approaching an area where it merges with another highway and the left lane ends... the signs warn you for long distance mind you.... so I look out the left mirror and of course there is a little import cruising along back there (that has been back there for some time mind you) and their lane is ending very soon so I start paying more attention to them.

1. I hate people who just ride in the left lane all the time

2. If your going to ride in the left lane get down the damn road but to keep pace with me more or less back about a car or 2 for several miles and not pass... ugh!

Well the lane starts ending and the clown decides to try pass/merge into me at this time. I am on a big black loud streetglide, i was so close I actually hit her fender with my left hand. I was originally going to wave to get her attention but then anger just got best of me and just slammed my fist down on the hood of her car. I almost wrecked via the momentum of my body swing, but as I looked over I seen her face in horror as she was on a damn cell phone as clearly forgot i was there or something. Needless to say other than a majorly bruised hand me/bike were lucky and i hope she has a hard time explaining to someone how my huge hamhock fist impression got embedded into her hood.

Ride alert brothers! I think I am going to start riding with a cpl dime sized rocks in my jacket/vest pocket from now on, will be better on my hands at least.[/QOTE]

Similar thing happened to me while riding in PA. Two lane merge into one with concrete devider on left side and steel guardrail on the right. Green ford Taurus wanted my lane, my first move was brake along with a hard kick to the side of the rear fender with my left very hard riding boot. Only then did they see me with my finger asking them to pull over!! They took off, and yes that type of move almost wrecked me.

Especially the damn "dumb" people on "smart" phones.

They need to make the use of those an initial offense in *all* states and not a secondary offense . . . with a damn big FINE!

IMHO . . .

PLEASE BE ALERT. RIP brothers.
My best friend Mark had the old left hand turn thing happen to him Mothers Day only the car was leaving a business establishment and pulled right out in front of him making a left turn. Mark was unable to maneuver around the car or stop and hit the left front fender and ejected from his motorcycle. He is in critical condition at the Shock Trauma Unit in Baltimore, MD with a head injury requiring removal of part of his skull to allow for brain swelling, several broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a broken pelvis.

The couple that pulled out in front of him were both 73 yrs. old and they were charged in accident.

It's so sad, Mark has an amazing personality and a lot of friends. His sense of humor just draw people to him like a magnet. I sure hope the head injury doesn't eliminate that.

He's going to spend 9 months to a year to recover.

That's crazy. I sure hope the whole "vehicle communication" thing takes off and someday every car, bike, truck, etc is talking with each other out on the road. I think it can really help a great deal with these kinds of "I didn't see him" accidents.
