I've tried to post this three time to the thread I started on 5/3, so will just try a new post.
Ok, first thanks to all that posted on my topic here!
The mystery non-magnetic chuck turned out to be aluminum, from the backend of the lower left transmission clutch door blind hole! Of the six screws holding the door on, there are two short, rest are longer. This blind hole was a longer one; the screws installed were the correct length.
The only things I can come up with that would make this happen are:
1- Manufacturing defect
2- Per a Caution in the manual, presence of dirt, water, oil or thread locking compound in the blind holes of the crankcase / transmission housings can cause the castings to crack or break.
I will be paying more attention in the future to ensure blind holes are clean before inserting screws / bolts.
Im installing a Baker 7-speed and their High Torque Primary bearing now, should be done in a day or so, waiting on more parts.
Again thanks for everyones input never thought something like this would be the issue.
Sucks when them "Blind Holes" arnt clean!! I learned a long time ago to turn the lights on and these days i also have to put my glasses on... :-)
Good luck in the future!!

Glad you got to the bottom of the mystery, and that you reported back with the result. Never would have thought to ensure that the holes were clean, sure will now!
Thanks for possibly saving somebody else from cracking their casing.
Enjoy that 7 speed..............
