The tour pack will come off and on in about 1/2 an hour, i bought the QD, Should have saved the $$$. Minus 50 pounds of high weight the bike feels so much lighter and looks better.
The HD quick detach setup for baggers is slick. I have one on my RK Classic and also ran one on my 2004 Road Glide. On and off in 5 seconds. Rock solid when mounted as well. Worth the extra expense IMHO. The san-Tour Pack look is great on HD baggers but oh so handy when traveling or hauling a passenger.

after i take the pak off, is it possible to put QD on it?
Sure, that's the first step. My point is it is not that hard to just put it back on without the QD.
I must not be quite as efficient as you. It took me about two hours to take the pak off and put the kit on. Granted I won't have to put the kit back on anymore but it would still take me 45 min or so to take the pak off without the kit. Compare that to 5 minutes now and I'm alright with spending the money.
I have the removable tour pack on 06 Ultra. But now would also like the option of moving it forward for a back rest, but keep the two up option. has anyone done this?
Since I put the detachable tour pak on my scoot, I thought I'd have it on and off all the time. Not so! It never comes off. Guess I'm getting old. But this Geezer Glide had the tour pak every where I go. It's just too convenient to remove. You never know when you need extra storage, and it's always there. One of the very best options I ever installed.
i have the detach kit on mine and have never taken the tourpak off. I use it pretty much every time I ride the bike...
there is a company that makes a sliding tourpak attachement kit where you slide the tourpak and passenger backrest forward to the drivers back. cant remember the company name.
I went the other way to accomplish the same thing. Started with a RGC and added the king tour pak and detachable mount. Only use the TP on trips or when my young son rides with me.
