Yes,
I did sturgis (700 mile days) on my 07 Dyna, and it was not bad. Did the same trip on my 07 Electra Glide, and it was about 3-4 times "better".
I just did about 2K in the desert southwest on my 2012 Electra Glide Classic, and again yes. The creature comforts make all the difference in the world to me that come on the touring bikes. They are all suprisingly agile given the sleds they appear to be, but those looks are deceiving.

Go rent, or at least test ride a few and that will make it or break it for ya.
Good luck and enjoy.

I have a 04 RKC and an Ultra Limited, anything over 300 miles I take the limited, to and from work and short trips I take the Road king, sometimes I am am at odds with myself becuase I love them both. I will say having the 6th gear on the highway going 80 mph at 2800 rpms is very nice.

I just switched over from a Fat Boy because I do a lot of 2-up riding. Wanted bigger bags and a better feeling suspension. I feel the RK gives me all of that and then some. Love the King!!!!

Don't put the bars on the Electra Glide...heck, take them off yours and 100 miles might only seem like 200...

That's a beautiful deluxe you have there, but not exactly the most comfy fwy flier.

The Apes and no windshield will have you using a lot of muscles just to hold on at highway speeds, and going around corners with them also uses a bunch more energy than a touring bike.

A touring bike will give you a nice fairing to ride behind. You will just sit on the bike, and relax as you go down the road. Everything will seem freer and easier.

In addition, the touring suspension and frame will make the miles s-m-o-o-t-h.

Having hard bags that you can lock up securely also allows you to carry all the comfort goodies that make the trips a breeze.

Get too hot, put your leathers in the saddle bags...get a bit chilly, and grab a vest. Have warm gloves in there too.

Having a place to carry some tools, and a place for your rider to carry some personal stuff makes for a more pleasurable trip.

The fairing will keep the bugs and stones off you, as well as keeping you from being blown off the bike. Having tunes and full instruments also make your trip less stressful.

Harley makes different bikes for different trips. For the long haul, and riding double, you have a bunch of touring models to choose from.
Road King most flexible.
Street Glide cool looking.
Road Glide cuts the wind (but less protection)
Ultra's and Classics for the full Geezer experience.

I have had a Softtail standard, Heritage, and a Road king before I bought my Ultra Limited. There is no comparison. The other bikes look cool and are fun to ride short distance. The Ultra is a mile eating machine.
