Default Decisions decisions

I bought a 2010 Street Glide back in march, love the bike, not so in love with the sound. It has Rinehart 2-1 slip ons and the stock header on it and its got a nice rumble, but not what I want. I really love the sound of thunderheaders, but with the stock head pipe will it muffle the Thunderheader? I know if I de cat the header it makes a world of difference, but I am torn between just getting a whole thunderheader system or decatting the pipes, getting the slip ons and a PCV. Money isnt endless in my household, and I would have to buy a little with each paycheck. What would you all do? I've been tossing about all different options and cant decide on which one would be best for me.

(the Rinehart pipe is going to be replaced, the whole damn slip on turned gold.)

Thank you in advance for all replies.

No comment available on what you've listed. Are you sold on the 2-1 set-up?

If not, consider the MGS True Duals. They've got discounted pricing available on their factory flaws (which are hardly flawed at all), and they sounds great, fit great, and perform well.

If TD's aren't what you're looking for, forgive my post. I just know that 2-1 systems get pricey, especially if you start considering a ghost pipe to even the rear-end appearance out.

Doesnt need to be a 2-1 setup, I like the look of the dual pipes.

brfire,
I had the same issue when I got my 09 EG. I ended up with a 2-1-2 fullsac headpipe and 4" Rineharts slip ons. I love the sound. What part of Mass. are u from?

I'm in the boston area. My best advice is go to bike nights a listen to different bikes and decide from there. I tried different pipes and mufflers until I found the one I liked.

I had the same issues a week ago, I had already had the rinehardts and vance and hines etc. I wanted something different and something that made more mid range torque, before I found pipes I wanted and liked, they havent arrived yet but I am very happy with my decision.
I bought 2 int 1 system from Hackercustomexhaust.com

Check them out, they have a stepped track tuned dual system that makes more power than anything you mentioned especially in torque in the mid range where we need it most.
I bought a 2 into 1 system myself and it is more like a headpipe into a small collector and add silencers to bring it down to around 95 db and has everything I was looking for and I found they all have a very unique sound that I really like a lot.

there not for everyone so take a look and see if they have something you didnt see already that might offer you more of what your looking for without breaking the bank, mine were very reasonable.

scroll down and hit harley davidson and then check all all the options they have from dual set ups, 2 into 1 systems and then slip ons or head pipes or both, they offer a ton of options and make 10 to 12 more hp and torque than anything else I have found.

good luck

definitely go listen to as many pipes as you can to get a real word expectation on sound, but I think if you start looking at what makes god pipes an then start looking you will have a better perspective,.
Good advice though to get out and listen to pipes, in person.
I was sick of getting lost in parking lots with every bike having the same exhaust, and after having the rinehardts that I was pretty happy with I started looking at what was producing more torque in the 2500 rpm range and thats where I ended up with Hackers.

If you let it breath better (Headers) and (Air filter) no matter what brand it will sound better and run faster. Period.

I have a set of the Thunderheaders and love them. I managed to get a set on flebay for a little over 200 with the heat shields. It didn't come with the mounting hardware and that was another 80 bucks.

Look around and see what you can find. Exhaust is one of those things where people buy them and change them out. I did twice on mine trying to find that right sound for me.
