I personally went with two extended levers and the back one is about flush with the floorboard. I only use the heel for neutral and having that position gives be positive neutral engagement every single time easily.
Finding neutral by up-shifting with the toe is easier for me with my setup, but I like the idea of setting the rear shifter low enough to just click into neutral. Hadn't thought of that. I may try it.
