Jacking up a bike-
Been riding a long time but have never owned a motorcycle jack,I'm about ready to pull the trigger and buy one,but one thing has me concerned.Does jacking a bike up strain the shocks,forks,or driveline by the weight of the wheels hanging free?

Well. The technical answer is yes it does. But the stresses you describe are well within the design parameters of the bike and significantly less than the stresses seen during normal operation.
