RallyRunner Seat Review
The Rallyrunner is only 13 inches wide so I immediately felt the difference in my hip joints. Be advised this is a low seat. I dropped a full 1 1/2" and it moved me back at least that far if not 2". For reference I did have to make an adjustment on my handlebars. I moved them back about an inch or so. The wife also commented that she did not have to have her legs so wide to get around the seat like the Sundowner. And that I am much closer to her than before which she likes as I block a lot of the wind that was getting in between us.
As for quality and comfort, the seating areas are real leather with a vinyl panel in between the rider and passenger section. The foam is firm and allows good support but I can still feel the suspension on the bike working, something that I could not on the Sundowner. I rode a two hundred mile loop on Sunday to try it out and I had no hip problems and was as comfortable as I expected to be on a new seat. It will need to be broken in, the leather is still really tight and the padding has not yet comformed to my butt. But overall I was fine the whole trip. The wife commented that she feels more bumps now then she did on the 5" thick Sundowner passenger seat but the 1" gell pad I had from an old bike fixed her up fine.
The passenger section on the Rallyrunner is only about 10" across and 2" to 2 1/2" thick compared to the 13" seat with 4 to 5 inches of padding on the Sundowner. We are going to be taking some more 200 to 250 mile trips on the coming weekends to get ready for our 1500 plus mile trip in and around the Knoxville area next month.
Overall I like it a lot better, I am more comfortable and I like that it set me down and back as my 15" windsheild now takes a lot more of the wind out of my face. Hope this helps someone looking for a decent seat for around town and on longer trips. I will post up more information when it stops raining and I get more seat time.
