Anyone know the specs of the 2008+ inner primary bearing or does anyone know what the Timken bearing equivalent is?
Still looking for a better IPB I see. After they switched to the larger shafts of the 2008's they all decided it wasn't worth it. I wish they, some1, would make the one piece bearing and seal for the 2008 and newer.
No, I have not come up with anything. I have called Baker and All-***** and talked to them. Nothing. I reiterated the issue that we all seem to have with the IPB and race. All-***** said they would talk to their research to see if/what they could come with.
I have not found the specs to the IPB to see if timken has a cross reference with it.
Maybe I am going to far with this, maybe just replace it and replace the tensioner would fix this. I just think after 35k miles and IPB replaced once and a second one making noise and soon to be replaced is a sign of poor design, bad quality, or something. Just would like to get it fixed and not have to worry about it again for the life of the bike.
may i suggest. if you buy 1 new bearing and race, from harley.go to bearing shop and have them try to match-up the size of it .and let us know what you came -up with.mrfuji

Just curious...what kind of noise does it make as it starts to fail?
The new OEM race is case hardened and is a significant improvement over the original item fitted at the factory, while they will not admit it, just looking at them shows they are a lot different now.
If you want to save IPBs , you should, ditch the auto primary tensioner, 07 and older bikes had the spec of over 1/2" free play in the chain cold, now it is nothing.
So the compensator issues, and the IPB issues I believe are caused by the auto tensioner, because of the longer trans shaft, and crappy trap door bearings.
Look at the trap door bearings in a 5 speed, and look at the trap door bearings in a 6 speed, the 5 speed bearings are almost 2 times wider, so yes they are going eat all kinds of things.
I will stick with a 5 speed thank you.
Some body would have one for sale by now, if they could put a 300% markup on it like everyone has done for the earlier models...
I looked up the earlier bearing a while back, and when asking a particular vendor of this bearing about the price of $35 compared to what I could find all over the internet for 8-12 bucks, I was told they actually machine the bearing before offering it for sale. Uhh-huh, not calling anyone a liar, but I'd like to see that setup...
