Default The not working

Coming home from dinner, everything is good. Slowed down for stop sign, started getting backfiring and popping.then engine light came on and no throttle.
I washed bike a few hrs earlier, never had a moisture problem before ?2011 RG

Sounds like moisture seeped into something electrical. Let bike dry-out well & a couple of checkpoints are your battery cables (ensure tight & greased) and TPS connector (right behind A/C).

What year bike?

Check the throttle body connector. Make sure its dry inside and connected correctly.

Dielectric grease every where there is an electrical hook-up, even the spark plug tips.

Power washers (which I will only use as a last resort at about 6 feet away)force water where it would not normally go, but sometimes thunderstorms will kick your a$$ very hard too.

Water just caused me a little problem. I wash it a fair amount, almost always on my jack so I can do the wheels. Got caught in a couple of substantial rains in the last couple weeks and no problem. Walked out of the doctor's office, not raining when I got there but started raining pretty good right after. Bike on side stand this time, so I put on my gear, hit the switch and see a white puff of smoke off the left side. All systems seemed ok, lights, horn etc and I started home and remembered my gerbing controls I had put in the inner fairing last year and the controller that used to be in my pocket is now under the seat. The didn't work and sure enough, yanked off the seat and the wire to the leads from the control module had gotten crushed between the frame and the seat. Guess the side stand slant got the water to the wires.
