First Overnighter- how do most keep their rides safe?
Iwas planning my first week long trip to NC when it occurred to me my bike would be unattended overnight in a strange motel parkinglot. What methods do some use to keep the bike safe while sleeping?
I'd sure hate to take a bus home!
RE: First Overnighter- how do most keep their rides safe?
Park in a well lit area either in view of the front desk or your room. Set the factory security system with siren. Put a front wheel lock on it and call it good.

I use a Xena disk lock that has a built in alarm. Works pretty good. While staying in a motel on a trip one night someone placed an empty beer glass on my seat. That set off the alarm, which alerted in inside the motel. I parked the bike near the room I was staying.

Thats a question that has troubled riders since the invention of the wheel. I usually start by my choice of motel/hotel. I try to pick onewhere I can park my bike right outside my room, a parking lot that is well lit and one that is fairly busy. That and the alarm system on the bike. I am curious though as towhat other people do to protect their babies. Good question!

Make sure my insurance is up to date and paid.
Lock the front fork.
Set my security system.
Park in a well lit spot.
If riding with another bike, chain them together
Hang my empty gun holster from the throtle.[sm=violent053.gif]
RE: First Overnighter- how do most keep their rides safe?
I hardly ever stay in the big "chain store" motels. I like the small mom & pop motels whereI can park right in front ofmy room and I always leave the curtains open enough where I can see my scooter. And if it rains I put my bike on the sidewalk in front of the room and under the eaves. Besides, the mom & pop's are always cheaper and most times have nicer rooms.

I always stay at an old time motel where i can have the bike outside my room hopefully chained to something..also remove detachable riders back rest and luggage rack..if somebody knows what that stuff is worth they could just slip it off. Some evil bastard could even steal your seat! havent gone so far as to take that inside yet!
