Dude, quit this, as it is NOT true at all. The stickers are controlled by all the individual states, and the lack of a sticker can still mean there is alcohol.

Ohio has a law BANNING the stickers, thanks to big oil.

Why the fuss, anyways? Don't ANY of you ride beyond home? Gas is what it is, when on the road.

E10 IS here, and it is here to stay. Unless you find a 'real' gas station, you WILL be buying corn, so?????

Pure Gas web site sucks. It is also incorrect. And mostly lists marinas anyways. WHo Boy!!! WHat a help.

The best action? Buy gas from the busiest station you can find, AND if possible, buy that gas in the 'high end' of twon. Premium moves REALLY slow, so the chances of water, etc from the alcohol is raised significantly, when the crap sits in the tank well over a year. Buy gas where the Benzes, Porsches, Z06s, etc buy gas. Bikes after say... 2009... deal with this fairly well. Bikes from 07-08 do OK. Pre O2 bikes? Need a decent tune AND do the tune with E10! That will sound backwards to most, but if the bike is tuned with E10? When gas is used, its a little RICH and thats not bad. If tuned with gas, when E10 is used, it will be a little lean, and why have that? The bike WILL adjust to either new gas, but it matters. The ECM will be WAY faster when leaning a mixture (E10 tune running gas) that it will be when trying to richen a mixture (real gas tune and running E10 later).

And... friggin MOCO changed around how this all works compared to cars and trucks using the same *** ECM, too. On cars, if fuel demands a leaner mixture... it does NOT do this. Our bikes WILL. Sucks.

I don't know if was just a fluke or they just over looked adding it. I'm going to check other stations around town and hopefully find other without ethanol.I purchased a tester online. There inexpensive and easy to use.
I too live here in El Paso and I don't think You will find ethanol free gas. I understand it's a city ord. that only gas w/ ethanol can be sold. The nearest I have found non-ethanol is Dell City. haven't really checked too much though, but I know You can't buy it here in the city.

Thats what I'm getting at,city doesn't mandate what kind of fuels sold thats done at a national level. Now what I was stating is I tested the fuel because someone else on puregas stated that the regular was ethanol free at that location so I went to test it myself its not hard to do.As I stated the pumps are labeled as 10%ethanol so I tested the premium and it was ethanol free.So I don't know if that was a fluke and a tank of ethanol free gas was delivered or what.My only concern with 10% ethanol is running it in my lawn equipment. All the fuel I puchase I use star tron additive to counteract its effects just to be safe. But now we have to worry about the EPA pushing 15% ethanol without any real test on its effects on small engines and your classics.Where does it end.

Buy your gas at CO-OPs. All I have been to are ethanol free. Higher price for pure gas but improved performance and mileage is noticeable. Is the cost justified by the numbers? I have never run the numbers nor do I care to, but I would bet it is probably six one way, half a dozen the other. But I like the results so I use it wherever possible. The bad part is that their no attendant stations require a CO-OP card.

Just one guy's experience: With corn gas I suffer a 10% loss of economy, the car drops from 22 to about 20 mpg, the scooter drops from 44 to 40 mpg. The corn gas is only 10 cents a gallon less in price. At today's prices, it would have to be 36 cents a gallon less (10% of $3.60/gal.) to have the same cost per mile as pure gas. One more case of saving money by buying the more expensive product.

Corn juice has a lower BTU rating than petroleum. That's why you get better mileage with it.

The e15 is not going to work. Automakers have not allowed for this in their vehicles until just the last few years. If you run e15 in a vehicle made over about 5 years ago, it will run poorly and turn on the check engine light for a lean code. Ethanol can only do about 2/3 the 'work' of real gasoline. Therefore, when it is burned in your engine, it mimics a lean condition. The o2 sensors read that there is a lack of fuel in the exhaust gas, and try to increase the injector pulse width to bring the mix back to 14.7/1 which they may be able to do. But in the process, the ecm sees that it has maxed out the injector pulse width and will set a code. Rest assured, e15 will not be a reality for quite some time. It may be an option at your local station, but e10 will have to still be available. I have tested vehicles that will code out on as little as 12% ethanol content, so 15% is not going to fly....

Something else to consider, when you fill up at a station with a common nozzle to three fuel grade the first quart or so is what was last pumped be it regular or premium, ethanol or not. I try to find and use stations that have single nozzles for each grade but then those too are fast going away.

I can smell the difference while pumping gas. If you know what pure ethanol smells like, it's very easy to pick out. The ethanol stuff has a sweet smell to it. There are a few stations around here who sell straight gas. All the Conoco station do no sell it. In fact, the Phillips 66/Conoco refinery about an hour from here doesn't even offer ethanol blended gas on their load rack.

im sorry but i all this worrie over the 10% ethanol in your gas is just not worth it. i live in a state that requires ethanol in the fuel iowa and illinois both do. one thing halrey says right in your manual atleast for newer bikes to use premium gas not the cheap stuff . its here to stay so gonna have to deal with it
