I took my 07 RKC out for the first time today after it had been delivered in Jan. It was cold however the first thing I noticed was how good the heated grips worked. Had them set to 5 and my hands were warm the entire ride. Coming off a GoldWing I wasn't expecting this bike to be as smooth but you'll not get a complaint here from me. The tranny shifted great and I could not hear the "5th gear whine" and I even lugged it a little to see if I could hear the reported rattles, nothing that bothered me. I had no pull to the left and the bike handled as though it were much smaller. The seat has to go but the riding position is good for legs and feet. The bike performed better than expected and I was looking for all the reported things thatcould be bad. I found none. The ride was great andthe bike performed smooth and fast enough for me while handling was excellent. The engine sounded solid through out the power band and seemed happiest when pushed a little. The sound note from the pipes was not real loud and had an ok tone to it and I found I may not change this as I'm not looking for loud. Windshield provided enough protection to get you out of the direct wind and is at the right height for me. Suspension is on target with a firm in touch with the road feel and is forgiving on the hard bumps. I know most of you already knew all this but I had to prove it to myself. If this bike continues to perform like this I'll easily say it's the best I've owned as the bottom line here is that it's fun and comfortable to ride and that to me would be an understatement.
I felt all the same feelings you are feeling. Had no intentions of doing anything to my bike. Out of the box comfort, style and appeal. I too came off of Goldwing(s). Wanna know what changed all this?
Get some miles on it, stage I that baby, and the "warm fuzzies" multiply 10 fold! The 96 stroker is a caged animal. Think about letting it out!
