Powervision owner question about engine temp
I was out today making some auto tune runs. After uploading the new tune , after 3 auto tune runs, i noticed the engine temp is around 277. It was about 86-89 out today and riding mostly at highway speeds. When i was around town it was about 290ish. Just wondering what you guys that have your power vision mounted on your bars are getting for the engine temp. I am running an open ac with k&n, 4" slipons, and v&h dresser duals. Even crusing my right thigh was hot. On my power vision i started with the base map Jaime sent me from fuel moto and made around 4 auto tune basic runs. Just wondering if the temp are normal or do i need to ad some fuel to cool it off. I ran about 200 miles today and averaged 41mpg.

Remove the cat from the header. Lowers the temps about 30 degrees. Don't change the fuel settings until the cat is gutted. I think you will be happy then. Tons of threads on how to do it. Two ways basically, drill it out or cut it. Either one does the job. PM me if you want more info on the drill method or any PV A/T tips. Mine lays in the bag in a zip loc bag to prevent any rain getting to it, but I keep it with me if I need it even though I don't run tunes or really need it any more. Heck I should sell it for $200 and let somebody pay FM $100 to unlock it. Doesn't take up much room or eat a lot.
I put a power vision on my Road King just to use as a gauge. The temps read around 260* - 280* on average. It got up around 290* once when stopped for a while. Twinkies run hot.
Looks like he already has power duals with cvo cans and Fullsac baffles.

I run 230 on average and about 270 around town on a warm day. I tuned my engine for temp. On a long trip and I mean long with 100 degree temps at 75 - 80 MPH I will see 268 on the cylinder head temp.

Or, sometimes I'm working on the upper left of the map.. low rpms/ lot's of throttle positions.
Both are driving heat up. So if you're like me I wouldn't be worrying AutoTune temp. Also be aware that when in AutoTune mode the PV backs 4 degrees of timing out of the tune. But adds it back in when you load the new tune.
So, all of this is to say don't worry the temps while doing AT runs, but notice the temps when riding as you normally would.
I took my stage 1 07 EGC (96ci) with K&N, PV and SE slipons out all day yesterday in high 80s low 90s heat and my average Engine Temp was about 240, while my oil temp on the McEwan oil gauge was reading between 200 and 215'F. But, again, that's NOT in AutoTune mode.
There's a great thread over in the Ignition/Tuner section you should start monitoring. All the PV experts are over there. (I'm not one)

and to unlock your pv it is 199, not 100.

So how were you riding? When I have been doing my AutoTune-Basic runs, I am really pushing the bike hard to get all of the Throttle Positions covered across the entire RPM range. Lot's of running through the gears and high RPMs.
