Now it's time to go to your local HW store and stock-up on a few b/c HD charges 4x a pop for that little rubber seal. If you look closely, they probably had an HD logo stamped in it so they can jack the price.

I learned early in my biking career that there are more variations in O ring size and type than is healthy! You can either expend a lot of effort messing around to find a suitable one that fits, or do the sensible thing and get the right part from a dealer or local indy. Life is too short to fuss around trying to save a few cents, indeed you will probably spend more while looking around than the cost of a handful of the genuine article!

If you're going to the hardware store, ask for an o-ring size 013.

While a standard o-ring material would work (Buna-N), I would get Viton instead if it is available due to it's higher heat and chemical resistance.

Exactly!!. From many years of auto repair I kept a big box of "o" rings. None of them seemed to really match the HD one. Even though new neoprene "o" rings and seals last longer than rubber ones did, I don't "Stock up" on seals, rings and gaskets like I used to. I got tired of throwing away old disintegrated dry rotted seals that I kept "in stock". Because I'd find myself taking a ride to the dealer to buy new ones when a job came up anyway.

And to try and find a replacement for them seems ridiculous to me since they are so dirt cheap. What are going to save? 2 cents per ring? Just buy the factory spec part.

+1, the 013 Viton is what I have used for all my oil changes.
