eBay bags
I am thinking about doing stretched bags and was wondering if anyone has used these or similar bags and what your experience was like. Was there a lot of prep needed, quality of abs, and so on

if you can get them for less the $250 I would try it. but you run the risk of getting what you pay for. I bet they take alot of prep work. and that fender has to be a cover. because a 08 fender wont fit on a 09
Hey bandit I am going to order a set but its a different guy and they come painted vivid black. I hv to get all the hardware so you get 2 tops and 2 bottom piece for 300 which is great. It's a different guy he is in California
Look around on eBay and you will see lots of options. Make sure you get money back obviously.

I have a set a bags/lids I got from him recently. I only got them cause I set my max bid @ 250, I figured worse case I I would have to spend the difference in time/materials to make a decent pair of bags if worse case occurred. Granted I have done my share of body/fiberglass work so capable of working the bags myself.
The lids equal pure crap, and would take alot of work to get them to look right on a black back. I was not surprised as I have seen several feedback comments from people on various lids from ppl that ranged from fair to poor from the same vendor.
The bags well they are not really black gel coated if the ad says so they are wrong, its simply black primer and poorly applied at that. They are not drilled other than the 2 big holes for the retaining pins. They fit on the saddlebag rails nicely were not warped and seemed rather square and over all decent so far a good deal for the price even with the crappy lids included.
I removed some the black primer and the white gel coat seemed pretty good not porous no cracks and the fiberglass was fairly think. To my surprise these are not paper thin bags and had no shine thru when i put a flashlight to the inside of the bags.
Other than no holes drilled and having to drill for all the hardware the only thing else I disliked was the top lip of the bags were not very straight. This is mostly due to how the part is laid and will be where I spend most of my effort at.
I plan to take my spare lids and my DA sander and slowly work the lip until its straight and I can get a good seal with the lids then drill the holds for the hardware. Then its a matter of re-epoxying the lip and some hi-build primer/da sanding sessions to get the bags ready for paint.
Bags are are more forgiving than fenders/lids less curves/body lines, but gotta remember these are all hand made so no 2 bags are the same, one of my bags is almost perfect actually and will take maybe 1 hour of effort total to be paint ready and the will get 2-3 depending on the lip alterations I have to make on that bag. Granted I am not working at paint shop speeds either so a paint shop could do it in 1/2 maybe.

BTW I know we are talking about 2 different add's by the same seller but it should give you a general idea about the quality of his stuff. The bags shipped out of florida, like i said at 250 the bags were worth it imo but thats because I didn't expect a bolt on product at that price.
I am willing to bet he has the reserve on that auction set at 399. or so.
Also look at his other adds where he is just selling the fender by itself for a better picture. I was thinking of his fender but i could swear it looks like the tag recess area is crooked looking, maybe its just me or an illusion but on some of the other pictures i noticed it.
And those bags in the picture show they have a lip on them bu the ones you will get will not have a lip on them, just a slightly wavey edge you will need to straighten if they are like the ones he sent me.

may have, I got 2-3 emails from different ppl asking about his bags, guess he's getting attention with his prices/items for sure.
As for painted extended bags I believe eastern performance was selling some vivid black painted at one time, I also know that Matuza sells some, I dunno anything about the bags but know both are made in taiwan supposedly and the latter would not be too bad I guess for bags/lids painted and shipped to you for around 600.00, just a bit more coin than I am willing to risk rolling the dice on without more word about:

We sell many different brands here at EASTERN PERFORMANCE but for the money we have had good success with the Sinister bags. We tested them ourselves in our parking lot. Using the GMC Kodiak that tows one of our trailers, we ran one over and it took two passes to break it. Listed below is the link to our website page with them including a video from Sinister. We can have them painted for you, or sent raw. Mention this thread if your calling in with questions, so we can see what kind of additional promotion can be done for HDForums.com members.

On the other end of the spectrum, if price is your main concern here is our link for a set for under $400. What you will see that is different is they do not have the same curved body line on the side as more expensive bags, it is straight. The extension also is a slant from front to back instead of a true straight extension. Still ABS. Copies the HD CVO style.
