One of the best shields that I have used is from F4 and perhaps one of the last shields I will need. They put the same stuff for scratch resistance that the put on eye glasses. You can't scratch these things.
I've got a 7 1/2" Freedom Shield. Works well enough for me that I can remove my glasses at 60mph and see fine.
I like my Freedom as well but it's a 9 inch. The things I like are it's thicker than most and it's optically correct which means no distortion. Especially important at the edges when you might be looking part of the shield and the real world. Got mine in light grey tint. Helps during day and not too dark for night. Seems to be the same as factory as far as buffeting even at short height which I can see over if I have to in rain. It's a reach but doable.
May not be the "best" choice, but what worked for me was the 8.5" Klock Werks (w/t-bags 3-pouch) and now my 9" LRS. Had 6.5" KW, but tad short and not enough room for my 3-pouch. Will have the 8.5" Klock Werks posted in for sale section soon...
I'm in the market for a new windshield and would like everybody's opinion on which works the best, looks the best, and which does both the best.
.....does kind of depend on what kind of riding you like to do. you want to look thru, over, tinted, clear.....
LRS was an ok choice for me to see over although i need a little taller as i get buffetted. i have one from clarks custom windshields that gives extra protection that is really good in the winter.....so, depends on what kind of riding you want to do. keep extra to change out depending on conditions and time of year.
Tossing my hat into the ring... check out Fast Airre's Aero. The original polycarbonate recurved windshield...$79.99 for a poly recurved shield with a 1 year warranty. You cant beat it. Sale ends Sunday at midnight.
AND they're made in the USA. AND the basic stock shield in whatever height is 27 bucks. AND I have no affiliation with this company, just like to buy American from small businesses when i can.
