The fork-mounts probably won't deflect enough airflow across your floorboard area(s) and hard lowers definitely help/protect/deflect everything from the knee-down...love mine + they keep the bug splats off your pants.

I figured it would be the hard lowers. However, I don't think they'd look good on a Road King with no faring. All I have is a 16" windshield.

might try some desert dawgs if you're looking for a cheaper way out....easy on, easy off too. that way if you know you're going to be riding the highway at those speeds, you can put them on and roll them up and put them in the bag when you don't want them. air flow shouldn't be a problem at those speeds. i have a set i use on my hamaha and keep in the bags for rain or when it gets cool. bought some for my 2010 harley but never took the lowers off. http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/harl...n-rain-guards/
