An inaccurate fuel guage on a Harlery?!?!? Say it isn't so!!!!
I have yet to find an accurate fuel guage for any Harley I have owned. The one that that I have now is probably the most accurate that I have had. That being said, I just keep my odometer on miles 'r'emaining to empty. I have found that to be far more accurate than any fuel guage I have ever had on a Harley. And it is less important to me to know how many miles I have traveled and more important to know how many miles until I start pushing.
That being said, have you replaced the fuel guage? It is probably more likely that the needle on the guage is stuck than a bad sending unit. (Very easy to replace. Take off the outer fairing, disconnect the wire, remove a few screws holding the guage in place, remove guage and reverse this process with the new one.)
