Default New Slip Ons

Hello to all

I currently have an 07 RK with V&H Ovals, stock headers, and SERT. When I bought the Ovals they sounded pretty good andthe dealertold me they will eventually get louder. Since then, I've gone 1800 miles and really haven't heard a change in sound.

Just like many before me,I've been thinkin of changing the slips for other ones withmore/better sound (nothing obnoxious though)

Looking for some opinions

Thanks in advance

Give it some time, 1800 miles is not enough to wear the packing in the mufflers. You need to ride the snot out of it.

I've had my V&H Oval Slip-Ons for about 3000 miles and they have definitely become louder during that time. I believe that most of the extra sound is coming in the deeper tones rather than a "bark" that I have heard other discuss.

V&H Ovals do not have packing, they are a pipe inside of a pipe design with no packing. One of mine had a rattle in it due to being a few thousandths oversized at the internal fit up point. V&H sent me a new one under warranty to replace it. It was easy to change, it looks like a glass pack muffler but it is just plain oversized pipewithout any packing attached toone of V&Hquiet baffles with loovers at the exit end of the baffle. It just slides inside the chrome outer shell where the end fits snuggly over another internal pipe. It is held in by twoStainless allen bolts, a few taps with a rubber mallot to get it in place and I was good to go.

Take Care,
Bill G

I know what you mean , the ovals are to quiet for me , the V&H classic slip ons are a bit louder , perfect for me , you can still hear the radio.

I have a 2007 RKC with V&H Oval slip ons as well, They've been on about 4000 miles and they sound is nice but too low - I wish there was a way to make them a bitlouder. On a related note, have you installed the V&H Fuel Pack? Is it worth it?
