I can do nothing by calling hd financial because my name is not on the account. Got in a hurry and bought the first sedona orange street glide I could find. Have not even rode the bike yet. So not for sure what my recourse is? Just be patient? Would love to ride before summer is over.
Lesson learned, patients, patients, patients. Good luck!

It has been 16 business days since purchase. I have called hd financial and they keep telling me 10-14 business days for release of lien to be sent, not including mail days. So I am still hopeful to receive it this week. Or I guess I dont receive it, it goes to the person I purchased bike from. And then they mail it to me. Wow, what a hassle.

If you have a Bill of Sale I would think you could go to a local HD Dealer and buy a 30 day tag

Call them again. Call them everyday.
Get one person's name and extension.
Be a PIA to them.

When I bought my Wifes bike, I met the guy, picked up the bike, gave him the cash he wanted then we went to the bank he had it financed through and paid it off. I was lucky to be able to go to his bank though, instead of dealing with HD Financing.

I wouldn't sweat it, you will get the title soon.

In the mean time ride the bike, and carry the bill of sale, a copy of any title documents and insurance papers with you.

You should always pay the lien holder directly, then balance to the seller. Any other way you can be out your money and bike for a very long time. Until the title is signed over to you, it belongs to the lien holder.

I have bill of sale, the original title-signed off by the previous owner- but still has hd financial as lien holder, and I have insured the bike. It is my understanding that I need release of lien to plate the bike? I may be wrong. I hope not because I could have been riding by now.

As I've said before and now the OP knows;

I won't buy a bike from anyone who doesn't hold a clear title in their name, because they don't own it.

That's a great philosophy but kinda narrows down your search for a late model used bike since very few are actually paid off.
