Stock headpipe? Or true duals? If ts stock, the majority of you exhaust exits through the right side, and would explain the darker color.

I think it's stock/you're right,as the rear Y's to right and left...just something I thought I'd throw out there.Funny,I never even noticed it until someone at work pointed it out.

Indeed the carb has been gone into by someone (dealer I suppose). It has a Dyno Jet kit in it.So,I finally found a .195 main jet.Same popping.Played around with idle air mixture screw, still get popping.Seems to idle best at 1 1/2 turns out.I tried out up to 3 turns and the popping just got worse.Pulled the entire exhaust off this evening in search of possible leak at pipe connections where there is clamps, don't see anything out of the ordinary.Well, the rear cyl. exhaust flange nuts were maybe 1 flat loose.Front nice and snug.I don't think the rear was loose enough to actually have a leak.I DID check for exhaust leaks before. So,here is where I stand--stock 88"/CV with Dyno Jet (.048 slow/pilot jet,.195 main jet) stock head pipes,V&H slip ons (I think they're Pythons),and High flow air cleaner (has appearance of K&N-but is H-D).Popping only on deceleration/engine brake.Otherwise starts and runs fine (occasional carb. fart at throttle blip).

My 05 carb RK does the same thing.
If I change the slip ons from Rinehart to the HD screaming eagles, it does the same thing. My bike was rejetted and dyno'd by the previous owner, so I don't really know what jets are in there. Might be time to take a look.
I'm going to pick up some new exhaust clamps and gaskets, and try that.

Iin the meantime, I just roll the throttle forward slowly, instead of letting off it completely when decelerating.
This takes care of 90 percent of it. Still gurgles a little, but not nearly as bad
if you just roll it forward, almost giving it a little gas when it winds down.
try it out..

Been doing that since I bought the bike in early March.PO said it goes away after riding awhile-BS,it's still doing it 3000 miles later.I'm determined to correct this. The gurgling is ok,but the popping has to go,even if it means putting stock exhaust on,but would really like to know if I'm "in the ballpark" with the jets and adjustments I'm with/at as stated. Also, which exhaust gaskets are good.the mesh or leaded tapered for the stock head pipe?

I assume you still haven't changed the needle, or moved the needle clip?

Yes, your jetting is fine. It's close enough that it shouldn't pop on deceleration.

No I haven't..I've been taking suggestions as in changing the main jet (HAD a .180),checking for intake and exhaust leaks. My understanding is Dyno Jet uses their own spring/ needle, etc. up top in the carb. So,my train of thought is don't mess with it (unless it's stock-which now I wish it was).

If you don't 'mess with it' enjoy your pop. At the very least, you should move the clip on the needle. As I remember, you may move it a notch or two with little difference, but once you start getting close to the sweet spot, you'll start noticing some significant change.

Please re read my earlier post about carb modes. A main jet has as much to do with deceleration pop as the air in your tires. Closed throttle = the main jet isn't even in play here. Especially if that
Needle is firmly seated in the jet.
