99 electra won't start
99 electra glide carb kit re jetted bigger cam and engine kit to 95ci, it will push start in 2nd gear and start whhen warm but will not cold start, just bought it ran fine a week ago then started shutting off while riding power completely gone but can turn switch off and on then power is back, now it will not start while cold, charged and checked battery and ok, cleaned air filter used carb cleaner for the carb and still the same thing, new plugs (champion) will just crank then a backfire but no start. Any ideas????

"switch off and on then power is back". There is a sensor called "bank angle sensor" that shuts down the bike when tilled above a certain angle. Turning the switch off and on reset that sensor, maybe yours is defective and sends false reading.

Get rid of those Champions might help. I had a Chevy p/u once that the previous owner installed champions in & during the winter it took for ever to get warmed up enough to idle & one cold morning (the truck was in the shop overnight) and as I backed it out it died & would not start. I ended up changing the plugs outside in -5* weather, put NGK's in it & not only did it fire right up but it idled also. What a difference. I run NGK's in everything I own. May not be all your problems but it could be some of it.

Turning switch off and on again, to get power, sounds like the switch contacts could be dirty. Also, not starting when cold, sounds like either weak battery, or cable connections could be loose/dirty. The battery can test good, but still be weak. You can take the battery to any auto parts store, and they can test it for you. That's what I would look at...

Harley OEM plugs are Champion. That being said I would never put Champion in anything but a Harley, a lawn mower and an old MOPAR. They just don't work in GM and Ford.

At about 77,000 miles my 2000 Ultra developed a problem of "stalling out", then being hard to start, and the problem was intermittent but seemed to be getting worse.
It ran fine until it didn't!
Turned out to be a bad "kill switch".
Just a thought.
