Why would the hardware included make them more legit?
You think a thief would snag a set of bags, then strip the hardware off them
before reselling? makes no sense to me.
Depends - if it's bike side hardware then I stand by my point. Bag side hardware then it wouldn't.
I think "including hardware" means hinges, latches, teather and mounting brackets that are on the bags (not the mounting bars that are on the bike).
Like you would have if you stole the bags (all one piece).
Exactly - I get it. Just want to give the OP a break rather than accuse him of receiving stolen goods which could be a crime.

Who cares if they are stolen. The ****** who stole them will sell them to someone, you just happened to be the lucky candidate who got to him first.
Are there serial numbers on sidebags? I doubt it; but if so, I would say check them to ensure they are not hot - if they are contact the owner and sell them back for what you have into them. If not, cut, chop and glue!
I buy stuff from craigslist all the time. It's a don't ask don't tell website, know that going in.
Be sure to start a thread on the extension process!
I hope you're not serious ... " Awesome price, hot or not, nice score " ... Anyone who would condone buying hot ( stolen ) merchandise is as much a thief as the person who stole it originally !!!
so what some guys are saying is that if you see a sweet deal on craigslist you should not buy it cause it may be stolen. so just go buy everything from the dealer, because that is the only way you know for sure that it is not stolen.

If that's what you took away from my last post you have TOTALLY MISSED the point!

Was not talking about your post larry. guess I should have been more specific. i meant the guys who instantly chimed in with the hope it is not stolen. i would try to make some effort to make sure any purchase i make is not stolen property, but these guys seem to think any good deal you find must be stolen.
