Handlebar Question
Gotta get some apes for my EG Classic, and am curious what the tallest bars that I can buy, without having to buy cables and wires? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
If you shop around you can change bars and cables relatively cheap. I shopped all the major vendors, eBay, and amazon as well and done mine for $418. That's cheaper than what some of these companies charge for just the bars. IMO if your gonna do apes or mini apes the braided cables give it a more finished look.
I would say 10" is about as far as you could stretch the stock cables and lines.

SBates is right about the bars. 10" would be the tallest you can go without changing anything. You'll have to reroute the wiring harness from the bar under the radio, but that's about it. He's also right about doing it yourself, if you take it to the dealer, your going to drop a grand on just labor.
A buddy had apes installed by the local indy shop (not sure the height, but they weren't that high...maybe 10's or 12's) and the bill was $3200.00....he talked them down to $2,800.00 since he is a frequent customer!
I've purchased whole bikes for less than that!

No disrespect to your buddy but he got f'n shafted for paying that ridiculous amount.
Agreed, unfortunately there was no price given up front and there isn't alot he could do about it after the fact other than whine.

Damn Stealers!!! I think they can smell a sucker from a mile away. Unless you've just got piles of cash sitting around there's no reason that you can't DIY. Trust me, the stealers will take every dime you let em have.

I've got 10" PYO Monkey Bars. Some say they are higher than other 10's. I went +2 on clutch cable. If I'd decided to run the cable outside the fairing stock clutch cable could have been retained.
Some guys with 12's will chime in with better info, but from what I think I've read, PYO 12's still let you retain stock wires if you re-route them under the stereo. Pretty sure you'll need a +2 brake line though.
I did it myself. Not hard, but will likely try your patience. Lots of good threads on here giving advice, step-by-step, etc.
