Cycle World did a nice job on theft prevention and they also have some information on what is being stolen. Go to this link and read some about it. This was a GREAT question.

I have a friend who had a real nice FXR stolen during Bike Week a few years back. He said a couple of 1%ers (I wont mention the club name) came up to him and were talikng to him about it. He thought nothing of it, and talked to them for a few minutes then parked it in the hotel parking lot where he was staying. He later returned to the bike only to find it gone!2 ladies saw the 1%ers pushing it onto a trailer and off they drove. He never saw his scoot again.

lojack has compiled statistics for 2006 and while i don't have a copy of it right here, hd was number 5. the top 4 were your jap crotch rockets...
i wanted to find something that showed specifically which bikes, but couldn't find it. i was curious how the goldwing stacked up against hd because someone mentioned covering their bike with a honda cover and i was interested to see if that was a good idea or not.
