I have a Dyna (FXDXT) and just traded my softail for a Road Glide. The Dyna and Road Glide are completely different animals. My dyna is my canyon carving, lane splitting beast, and the Road glide is my couch on teh highway. I have not actually ridden the Dyna since I picked up the Glide.

The biggest difference to me is the weight of the bagger. This bike is extremely heavy. Seating postion is a little different and I absolutely love having a stereo. My bike was already really hooked up when I got it with air ride, rims, great stereo system, extended bags, custom paint etc and this thing rides great.

During the adjustment period I managed to lock my front brakes on the freeway at 80, slide left, slide back right, ride on teh edge of teh extended bag for a bit and recover before I nearly crapped in my pants. It was at that point in time that I realized just how heavy this bike is. I have changed my riding style on this bike now as I do not want to have that kind of experience again.

Lane splitting sucks on teh bagger with the 41" wide bars and mirrors that are even wider but this will be changed just as soon as I get a chance.

I'm keeping my Dyna as it is all paid for and perfect for lane splitting to and from work and a blast to ride still.

Regardless, if I could only have one bike I am not sure what I would do. The toughest decision each day is which bike to ride. Thank god for choices and that I have these kind of choices. Life has been very good to me in the last 7 years.

Picked up the new RGC yesterday afternoon and rode all evening! Wow! Absolutely amazing piece of machinery. More weight, foot boards instead of forwards, and lower seating position took a little while to feel normal but soon it all felt right. Great handling for something so large! Comfortable and relaxed ride with the music going was a whole new world. Two up was just as comfortable although they had to order me the backrest pad so it will be a couple days before the little lady rides too far!
There are so many mods for this model it is hard to decide what comes first. I did order a Klock Werks shield for it last night so the long highway rides would have a little less wind noise. Let the fun begin!
And yes I know - I will get pics up soon!

The tour pak is just too much stuff for me although someday I'm sure i'll want it. Great rate at the local credit union too.
I'll pick it up tomorrow afternoon!

Welcome to the touring forum. I dont know if anyone has suggested this because there are a few pages that I have not read, I suggest having the dealer include a new windshield. The stock windshield on a RG has alot of buffeting, get a taller one. The dealer should have ones that you can try out or at least look at on a bike. I rented a RG custom for a week while my bike was in the shop, I could not hear the radio at 65, to much wind from the stock windshield. Good luck with your soon to be new bike, stay safe.

Windshield, backrest, grips, 360 degrees adjustable highway pegs, RJ's or other brand heat dseflectors, soft lowers for rainy or cold days, the accesories are endless...Not sure how the seat are on those, i think they are nicer than the Electra Glides...Have fun dude...i have 77000 miles on my 07 FLHTC , last year i bought a 02 FXDP for the wife and i ride it also ...it's a blast....get you a suspension pump that way you can tweak the pressure for comfort.

Exactly. The comfort factor on the Touring models is vastly greater and they handle very well despite their size. You'll never look back once you do it.
