I really don't think most car drivers realize that washer fluid goes anywhere but directly onto the windshield. It's not exactly an intuitive thing to know. I know I didn't, until I started riding a motorcycle and got hit with a little once.

really no reason for a rant on this. and you don't know if his 'sudden urge' was brought on by a huge bug splat or not. washing one's windshield does not make one 'oblivious'. if you don't want to get wet, don't ride so close.
+1

WW fluid don't bother me. Most are not smart enough to know they are spraying over their windshields. Now Chewing tobacco....We got a problem!

Had that happen yesterday on the way to work, but karma was my friend. About 3 miles down the road the jerk wonders over 3 lanes on the freeway and smack his new caddy into the dividing wall a couple times. He did'nt even hit jhis brakes, just put his blinker on and got off at the next exit.

That whole area and up through Baltimore really is like some kind of death cage match on wheels, man. I feel your pain.

Got stuck behind a garbage truck at a red light once. Couldn't move to other lane due to traffic. Would have loved to be sprayed with something that smelled better than what was coming from the truck.

Like you, I'd be tempted to flip'em off. But more and more I don't. There are so many unstable people out there. Lots on prescription drugs, lots w/ too much stress, others w/ road rage tendencies. And a lot of them, just like us, carry too.

They're in a 2+ ton tank. We're on an 800 lbs bike. I don't like those odds.

They do something stupid. We flip'em off. They escalate. Suddenly it can get very dangerous for us.

Better to just back off, let it go and ride home safe. May not be easy to do at the moment, but it's the smart move.

I'm not preaching to anyone. It's just my evolving philosophy on trying to stay alive and enjoy my bike.
Exactly the right thing to do, but oh so hard in the moment.
