I'm looking too and really like the one from Open Road Outfitters, but haven't been able to find anyone that is using it. I think most on this forum are using either Bushtec or MC Hitch. See nothing but positives about both of those.
I bought a hidden hitch from eBay of all places...it's real nice, can't hardly see it when the receiver isn't installed. I like it a lot. I've had several from KromeWerks, and they are nice but you can see them bright as day installed. I'll try and find the link to where I bought it...
Check out HitchDoc. Had one on our '02 Ultra and pulled over 90K with the trailer. When we got the 2012, we got another HitchDoc. Good people to deal with and quality product. It is hardly noticeable with the ball is removed.
I have a 2012 Ultra and have installed a Bushtec, Version 1, Hidden Pin Hitch. While the instructions are a bit cryptic, I installed it successfully and it works and looks good. I like the fact that with the isolator assembly is plug and play and everything fits nicely on the bike.
I recently installed a Bushtec "Hidden" hitch after being assured that it was a "totally hidden" hitch ... Guess what? ... It isn't ( He assured me that you would not see the hitch when the "Pin Assy" was removed, and you can ) ... and they are not cheap ... By the time I purchased the hitch, wiring harness and isolator with shipping I had $490.00 in the setup. The electrical portion was extremely easy to install ( I have trouble even spelling Edison ) and I encountered zero problems hooking it up to a Bushtec Quantum ... On the other hand installing the hitch per their instructions I felt like the first day of kindergarten ( I'm a retired ASE mechanic ) The instructions SUCKED and were VERY confusing when it came to attaching the "sideplates" to the scooter ( 2009 FLHTCU ) using "spacers/adapters" etc. Once I finally got it on properly ( after several calls to Customer Service ) I will say that it does the job ( after a lot of aggravation and frustration ) All in all, I guess you can say I'm satisfied with the final outcome just exasperated that it was such a pain in the a$$ to figure out initially!
I also have a Hitch Doc hitch, it is a reciever type and is hidden when the stinger isn't in the hitch. Besides pulling a trailer I also take the ball out and use it for my Pstrot Guard flag mast. works great. When I got it several years ago, they sent an appoligy note with it appoligizing for having to use a ball not made in the USA and were working to correct that problem, don't know if they were able to do that, but liked the attitude. Also had good customer service.
The Rivco and Hitch Doc once installed become part of the bike, attached to the frame and make the hitch and bike travel as one. Much nicer pulling experience.
My MCHitch welds broke and it was not frame attached like the other two.
