Got a tc 96 w/ 18k on it. Previous owner installed the rush true dual setup on it. In a few weeks I'm pullin it apart and throwing in a set of woods tw222's. I'm gonna have a little dough left over so here's my question. Should I send the heads out to bigboyz and get them all cleaned up and ported/polished or should I scrap the 2-2 setup and get a nice 2-1 exhaust (I like the sound of the propipes). Can't do both. I do want good performance but I don't know which one would make the biggest difference. Heads would be cheaper and at 18k I'm sure they look like crap. But I don't wanna do cams and heads and then have my exhaust completely ruin the build... Help me out y'all.
Why would you work the heads for greater flow to have them choke at the exhaust?
.....
Edit
I personally would save my money until you know exactly what you want to do, and do it all at once. If you plan on doing heads, you will likely want to do big bore jugs/pistons then add exhaust.. doing it this way will save you money on having it properly tuned on a dyno. There is a full setup in the classifieds for a 107" kit.

So here's the thing. If I price it all out, I'm at about 1100 for cams/exhaust/misc parts... Or for 200 more bucks I can do the 107 kit.... So the 107 kit is def the way to go then. What I need to figure out now is can I run the 107 with the pipes I've got now, and if fuelmoto can send me a map for my setup and save me a little coin on a dyno...
Maybe not since he can only afford head work OR an exhaust system!!!!
That's head or exhaust added to a cam job... Which puts me pretty close to the price for the 107.... It's pretty damn tempting now. Plus I've got some wiggle room if I can justify it lol
While a pro-pipe may get ya a little more tq than your current true duals, it won't be a big gain. If ya only want to go with 222s headwork isn't really going to make a lot of difference as your later heads flow better than the earlier ones. Bang for the buck would be boring your cylinders for some pistons to raise compression to about 10-1 and get a few cubes 103/107. It really depends what ya want but for cheap some SE cast 103 flattops and Andrews 57 cams may surprise ya.
