Default Adjusting Passing ( Road ) Lights

I've just got to believe that me and the drunk at the end of any bar in North America with about $100.00 and a couple of hours could come up with something better than the design, and I use that term very loosely ( convoluted ) set up that H.D. uses ... I forgot what a pain in the a$$ this job is/can be ... Yes, I have the socket ( made one years ago ) for my '92 ... I think that the "design" must have been left over from a John Deere, no make that a Massey Ferguson project that didn't pass engineering ... Maybe I'm just getting too damn old to screw with this stuff or perhaps I ( me and the drunk ) didn't imbibe quite enough before I started the job ... Anyway, it's done now and I've tightened it just enough to give it a "smack" the next time I need to adjust the damn things!

You said it Uncle Larry, I have done it several times and it's a royal pain in the a$$ no doubt about it. Usually I never end up totally happy with my efforts, I try using levels and straight edges and anything else I can think of, in the end I have to convince myself it is good enough and go on with my life! The ones on my new Ultra look perfectly aligned and I hope I never have to fk with them.

I just recently picked up my 2013 and was pretty stunned how poorly aimed the factory lights were. A total of ONE of my three light was close to correct. The others were not even close. One would think by now, the moco would have mastered the aiming thing so the end user would not have to mess with them. Its just not the case. I have them exactly where they belong and night vision is acceptable given the stock bulbs output.

The spherical mount (of both passing lights) needs a bit of grease to become adjustable.

I agree. A major PITA, to put it mildly.
