Default replacing throttle side grip

Ive changed grips on a throttle on a dyna with cables but anybody know how to do it on a ultra classic with throttle by wire. Is there a difference and what to expect when seperating the housing

No real advice, except that it's even easier with the throttle by wire.
If you've changed the ones on your Dyna, you'll be fine with the new one.

The same rule applies about the brake switch though, so be careful there.
The grip just slides off, and the new one slide on.
There is a little gear wheel thing on the handle bar that will engage in the end of the grip.
So make sure you get the throttle grip on the throttle side of the bars.

The TBW is easy as well.
You'll see teeth at the end of your bikes TBW throttle (plastic throttle under the grip)
Just install the grip which should be made for TBW applications and make sure you push the grip onto the bikes plastic TBW module/assembly and reinstall the top housing back as per the manual. Cake.

It's pretty straight forward. Just open the switch housing and loosen it from the bars a little. Slide the grip off and the new one on. Give it a little jiggle to make sure it slips on all the way and engages with the TBW. Put it back together.

There is a youtube video on it. Place a little spacer in the brake lever to protect something. Then the trick is to get the grip and brake assembly slide up enough not to bind or have slop.

Easy, easy job.

i will be of no help other than when i first considered changing the grips on my 2011 flhtc to the hd get a grips i was nervous. i thought about how easy it was changing grips using a spray adhesive in the past. the non throttle was held mostly on with the controls and some glue on the edge. i found the tbw was easier because the end of the grip had the gear that worked the throttle and the other side was just controls holding it on. just was a dis assembly and reassembly. watch a few videos on youtube and you will be fine

Just put new grips on my RK. Only thing I would add to comments above is that I needed to loosen both the switch assembly and the brake/mirror/reservoir clamp to get the switch halves far enough apart to slide the throttle off. So you have to re-align the mirrors after you are done too.

Also, after you slide the new grip on, you can fine tune the location of the switch assembly to set the amount of left/right play in the grip (that is, play as it slides back and forth along the handlebar).

No sweat. Much easier than getting off the glued on left grip without just cutting it.
