wow, that sucks....wonder how one dealer can say warranty and another not? my pads were still real good maybe that might be a difference. dealer didn't even suggest wear and tear and replaced them without batting an eye. tickett says "during the 10,000 mile service the tech found that both front brake rotors are warped....left rotor is .009" right rotar is .015"" over $325.00 in parts and labor....zero $$
Interesting thoughts on keepin the front brake engaged can warp a rotor. I am curious if you changed your pads when you changed rotors. When and if my freakin Xtreme Machine wheels get here with the new rotors, I'll put new Lyndall pads on to wear with the new rotors even though mine only have 6K miles on them. The Lyndall Z pads don't crap up your wheel with all that darn dust either. I'll check the movement of mine when changing pads.
Do you wash the bike when the rotors are still hot? I wait an hour before washing the bike. Engine stays hot a long time in the summer.
I know you can warp car rotors by washing when hot.
Holding your front brake while stopped WILL warp your rotors!
2" of very hot brake pad will quickly warp a 1/8" rotor if held for more than a second or two. Been there done that.

Hmmm ok no more doing that at lights for me then. I have to admit sometimes I do that.
I did a search for warped rotors to see what others had experienced and came across this thread. It makes sense about holding your front brakes keeping part of the rotor hot leading to warping although don't most people hold their car brakes at stops? I have one warped now, guess I will find out about coverage under warranty or not. Going to have to retrain myself not to hold the front brake at stops, not that I always do it but I know I do it some. Of course sometimes in the Ozarks you don't have much choice as your stopped on a grade.
