Drive Pulley Pitting
I have a 2012 FLHTK with a little over 12,000 miles on it. I am in the process of replacing the tires prior to riding to South Dakota. I noticed that both drive pulleys have some pitting in the bottom of the grooves. The belt looks good however. I'm not sure if this is something I should be concerned with. I would appreciate any advise.

Sand, grit, road debris...
all contribute to small nicks in the metal. Not to mention casting imperfections. The tops of the 'sprocket teeth' are smooth because the belt friction is continuously polishing that area...

My understanding is that it is normal and contributes to why the pulleys are usually replaced along with the belt. Otherwise worn pulleys will accelerate initial wear on the new belt. Would need pictures to judge if your wear rate is abnormal.
