I believe what your hearing is lifter clatter. The same clatter that a lot of 103 owners are having. Bad part dealer says its "normal" and won't do anything about it.
As mentioned before, take the tuner off and see but I'll bet it's still there. Mine only clatters when I'm coasting or in decel. Good luck. Let us know what you find.
Don't know how your tuner works or if it is capable, but the timing probably needs to be reduced.

That's what I did. I took 1 to 2 degrees in the areas I was getting the chatters (between 2700-3200 RPMs). I'm guessing that's the same range your having issues especially since that the same mileage mine began the dreaded ping....before that, XIEDs are all I used. If your tuner doesn't allow you access to the timing tables you will need a diff tuner.....
I'm not really lugging it. I hear it coming up thru the gears. I do on occasion stay in the 2300-2700 rpm range to try and pin point the problem. My tuner is the old terry self tuner that RC components bought from Terry. No adjustment possible. I'm going to unhook the tuner this weekend weather permitting and try. If it goes away I see a thunder max in my near future. I know how to adjust it as I had one on my 09 RG. Thanks to everyone for all the input. And just to add this the heat on out feet and legs Is tremendous. Ihad the cat cutt out of the head pipe. The tuner was supposed to take care of that as well. Thanks to everyone for your input. I guess you get what you pay for.
Bens in Matthews for TTS. I hear good and bad.
Greenville Harley for SERT, Andy can hook you up.
T-Man in Kernersville
Statesville Harley, Randal I hear is good on TTS.
Nothing super close to me either, but you need to find a shop that uses the tuner you choose. Everyone has an opinion and you know how that goes.

If your still feeling a lot of heat, its probably the tuner not properly making the adjustments you need. As already stated d/c it and see if anything changes either way with the increased heat still there its time to get soemething that will help.
TTS, PV SE all good stuff and work basically the same. Dont know anyone in my area or group of riders that use Thunder Max, Ive read about them but I like keeping the stock ECM and having control of the tune, its worked great for me and most of the guys I ride with for 8 years
Likely it's a ping. If you can purchase pure gas (non-ethanol) premium fill tank. Also install 4-5 oz's of Chevron Techron an several tanks and run the pants off the motor. It should clear up. Do not use anything but Chevron Techron, this stuff is the only thing I have used that can clean deposits out of combustion chamber. If you have aftermarket spark plugs, take them out and install the factory stock plugs.
