Default 107 Big Bore Kit

Is it necessary to do bottom end work on a 2002 Electra Glide Classic in addition to purchasing any of the 107 big bore kits. The 2002 model year has a better crank than later year models, along with a timken bearing, and about 6,000 miles on the bike. 10:1 or lower compression is the target goal. No racing, or whole shots, wheelies, etc., occasionaly I may be inclined to get on the throttle while on the highway, but I don beat on my bikes. I am looking to take future long distance trips with friends that have larger displacement motors, and I dont want to be struggling to keep up.

No it is not necessary if you have a 96.

Call Fuel Moto, a forum sponsor, and talk to them.

Was it a typo or did you say you have an 02 model? If so, then you have the 88 c.i. The fuel moto 107 build wont work. If you do a FM build you will be doing their 98". The crank should be sturdy enough but you might have them take a look at the cam chain tensioners. If they do the work at their shop they will definitely do everything necessary to get you going right. They will not half *** the job. As others have stated though. Just give them a call and ask. They are great people to work with. Good luck on your build and happy riding.

Your '02 88" has a shorter stroke than 96" & 103" motors. So, yes ya will have to change the crank & rods or bore the cases and replace the cylinders to get over 98". A proper 95"-98"build will run with most 103"- 107"s.

Your 02 is a 88ci, best you can do is big bore to 95 or 98ci unless you want to get into crankshaft and cases.

Call FM and look at their kits, talk to Jamie and ask some questions. http://www.fuelmotousa.com/site/98-inch-big-bore.html
