Does your bike need to be perfect?

I would fix it in a heart beat as I like to keep my bike in as near perfect shape cosmetically and mechanically as possible. You sound like someone who would want it to be the same as before it was damaged, I don't think you will be satisfied for less.

Has to be perfect, these bikes aren't some throw away jap junk. I have more money invested in my Harley than I let my wife spend on her car. There's an old saying "You gotta take pride in your ride, these things aren't cheap". Live by that with all my toys. I wash and detail the bike every weekend

I would fix it. Any scratch that are caused by others isn't character. That's just a constant reminder of that A'holes out there. If you had done it yourself that would be character. I've got a gouge in the fairing of my Ultra that I look at every time I think about taking up drinking again. Reminds me why I quit.

OP here. Surprised at the number of "fix it" responses; but I think you guys are right. I'm gonna see what she looks like after buff, touch up and clear coat. Maybe save a few bucks and if it's not looking right I'm getting a new (or new to me) bag. I got too much money in her to have a mark like that. Plus the posts about if it was my fault it might be a good reminder that i f@%ed up; but looking at it now only reminds me that there are a lot of assclowns out there...ring true. Thanks.
