Don't know what they are made out of but I can tell you they make bleeding your brake system real easy. A hose and a container to collect the old fluid is all you need. "Even a caveman can do it".....

Or skip the speed bleeders, and just use a hose and a container. Seriously. Been doing it that way for many a year. Acts just like a one way check valve, without the need or cost of a speedbleeder.

You can get them in mild or stainless.

They are a great product. They are not free. Sure, you can go another route to bleed, but at the risk of air in your system. I went with the stainless speed bleeders.

You can see the right front one in this pic just behind the brake line. They replace the stock bleeder nipple. You just screw out the stock nipple and screw in the Speed Bleeder nipple. You will notice that it has a black rubber cap as well to protect the business end from contamination:

I installed them before my bars and cable replacement to make it an easier job, work the way they should and make bleeding the lines a nice simple one man job.

I have 'em, in SS and love them... really for the cost vs benefit it is a very worthy "upgrade". I have a "1 man bleeder system" but I find this option a bit less messy and very high quality.

Tried them on a Metric bike and one failed on me. Found the traditional method to work just fine and for maybe doing it twice (once for most) why go thru it to begin with. Besides, they stick up higher than stock and are an eye sore....MHO
