Rode the bike to a PGR Mission the other day here in PA. WhenI got home I spent almost three hours washing the bike to remove all(So I thought)the de-icer they use on the roads up here.
Luckily its all "surface" corrosion, and I can knock it off using polish, but man, that stuff gets everywhere.[:@]
When you decide to ride in the snow belt you better have a pressure washer to reach all the nooks and cranies that have that brine solution hiding waiting to corroid your baby[:@]

That stuff is a Calcium chloride based brine that will not only play pac-man with your chrome and aluminum if unchecked. It is hell on electrical connections if it has a chance to make its way into them. Since the states who use it have started there has been more cars with electrical problems due to being exposed to that crap, such is the price we pay when everyone expects to drive 70mph in the winter. My bike gets parked in the winter and doesn't come out until all the snow is melted and we have some good cleansing rains.
