I had the F R Commander II Tires on my Ultra for about 9000 kM. Awsome tires in my opinion. Downside. Most dealers don't stock them. If you are on the road and need to replace a tire you're SOL to get another Michelin unless you have a couple of days to kill waiting for a special order ask me how I know. I somehow cut the valve stem at 80 mph and by the time I got the bike to the shoulder on the interstate my rear tire was toast. Only tire I could get from dealer was a Dunlop. Now I have a Michelin Commander II F and Dunlop Rear. Not sure I like mixing the tires like that but rode 1200 miles like that with no issues. When it comes time to replace tires again not sure how I will go. I liked the Michelins but if you can't readily get them?
all three of our bikes have them in the rear
over ten k on the bagger got 9 out of the one on my dyna
could have gotten more but picked up a gnarley gouge
hoping to see 15 k on the bagger
I will be replacing my rear Commander 2 a week from now. I have 21,300 miles on the tire. It is not done, but has less left than I want to leave town on. It has been a great tire.
In an emergency on the road, I will gladly mount any available tire. Given a choice at home it will be a Michelin.
This is on an 07 ultra.
When I read these tire threads tar snakes always comes up, can someone tell me how a tire of any brand or compound can be better than the other. I thought it was the tar that moves when you are going over them???
I was over at Seacoast HD the other day and say a bagger with the Metzler 880s that had red lettering. Pretty sharp. I run 880s on my Valkyrie, but they don't do much better mileage wise than the Dunnies.
Last time I checked the Michelin and the Met were quite a bit more money that the stick 402s which I've never had a problem with.
I've had a CII on the rear for about 3K and so far it's been great, and cheaper than most others too. I'm getting ready to put one on the front soon. To the OP -- have the progressive upgrades been worth the money? I've got a 08' RKC and was thinking about doing the stabilizer link - just curious?
