Just my .02, but I would go ahead with the extra $100 and get a PC V. This way you have Fuel Moto in your back pocket just in case something was to happen. Again just my .02.
I would not put an add on tuner like fuelpack on a newer bike with 02s. Ya should be able get a get good stage 1 preloaded map with a TTS or Powervision that would work great.

I think I'd go this route.
I have only dealt with Fuel Moto folks once, but they were very helpful and easy to deal with. And the tuner I got allows much greater variation than the Fuel Pak. I had the Fuel Pak but couldn't eliminate popping on decel and decided to go another route. Been very happy with Fuel Moto.
I just purchased a new 13 Street Glide a month back. I felt the same way, I was not interested in getting all the HP and torque out of it I could, just make an improvement over stock, The stock exhaust puts off too much heat and made it really uncomfortable for my wife to ride, so I De-Catted my pipe, but still too much heat, So I went with a complete stage 1 system. I put a screamin eagle air cleaner assy., a V&H power duals pipe, with MGS slip on's, and a V & H Fuelpak.. I just went to the V&H site and put my information in the boxes and they sent me the setup parameters for the fuelpak. I am more than satisfied with it, Like I said two Harleys ago.. IF I WANTED A FAST BIKE THAT runs 10's IN A QUARTER MILE, AND HANLES LIKE IT IS ON RAILS ALL THE WHILE SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME I WOULD HAVE GOT ME A RICE ROCKET FOR 1\3 THE PRICE...

Just purchased new 2013 FLHTK Ultra Limited. Want to get pipes done and figure doing the Stage 1 Air Cleaner and ECM should be part of that. Spoke with my local wrench whom I have dealt with for about 4 years now and asked him what he has been doing for people and what they like. What he recommended was:
Radii Black Tip mufflers (Apparently a Rinehart clone? He says they sound/look identical) ~$250 installed.
Stage 1 Air Cleaner (Didn't ask who makes it, chrome with K&N lifetime filter he said).. forget the exact price.. $200 or so?
Vance & Hines FuelPak.. Another $200 or so I think installed? Total was like $820 to do all 3 with his time included.
Now, the reason I am asking is because I know if i go into the Exhaust forum and ask (I have), everyone will tell me to get the $500 auto tuner, the $600 pipes, etc.. And local guy is certainly willing to sell me higher end stuff if I want but he said his customers have been happy with the above setup.
I'm not interesting in getting every large ft-lb of torque I can out of this thing. I don't want to do 60 dyno runs and tune it. I just want a nice sounding set of pipes, a free flowing air cleaner and a tuner which will get the bike running the way it should instead of the EPA mandated crap that's on there now. The question is, would I be happy with this setup or am I just setting myself up to buy the $500 tuner and such later down the road?
I am just looking for a good sounding, properly tuned bike... I'm coming from a carb'd 1996 Evo Roadking and I was happy with the performance of that. I'm over the whole tweaking thing.. I don't want to play around too much. Does this type of setup sound reasonable given my requirements? I trust the local wrench but I'd always like a 2nd opinion. The price seems good and its something he's familiar with working on so that's always good as well.
No one can answer that question because we are not you. You can do a stage 1 cheaper than 800 bucks, depends on how you are with a wrench. I got a decatted pipe from fleabay 100, big sucker air cleaner 100, fl-xied 100, klockwerks super saver 4 inch slip ons 250. I have less than 600 in my complete stage 1 and I will love every minute of installing it myself and saving even more $$$. I STRONGLY suggest that you go get a bike jack/lift and a service manual for your ride. Why pay someone outrageous $$$ to do chit to your ride that you can learn to do??? Wish you many miles of smiles on your new limited, stay safe bro.
After you described your past (motorcycle wise) you the first person I've ever believed who said they were going to do a stage one and then stop.
That does open up options for you. You won't have to worry about the whole "if i buy this part now will i just have to buy a new/upgraded one when i upgrade something else ?" AC wise i think you would be happy with a Ebay find. Almost all flow better then stock so it's up to looks and cost there, but you can get one top your door for much less then $200. Xieds will be fine for you i think, it'll cute the lab problem and improve response and sound. You may get a little decel pop but that's not big deal (imo). Exhaust wise i would de cat your current head pipe and then head to a local bike night/event and keep your ears peeled for the exhaust that perks up your ears. If you don't find anything go ahead and get the pipes your guy recommended. If you don't pike them it's prolly the cheapest exhaust mistake you can make on one of these bikes
Is there something else you would recommend given my needs? I'm not planning on modding the engine past this. Like I said I am coming from an 80" Evo stock with a carb. I don't want to be cheap, but I don't want to waste money either. I'm not planning on modding my engine really any further than this and I doubt I will change my mind on that.. I rode my 80" Roadking for nearly 9 years..
Get the mufflers you want, find the air cleaner in the classifieds, get a Jackpot head pipe, get a Powervision, do the install yourself. The Fuelpack can't make the adjustments your bike will need with the additional airflow.
