Can anyone imagine riding a couple 2-3 5-600 mile days on a Softail or a Dyna? I HAVE done so on a Heritage and the touring bikes are simply a million times better.
I did Sturgis a couple of time on my FXDL (685 mile days) and it was comfy as could be.
Any of them can be set up to be quite cozy, it just comes down to the creature comforts that we go without on the non bagger bikes.
I can't imagine going back and giving up the hand controls for the tunes, the cruise, the fairing, etc.......

I've done it on a Street Bob - about 1k miles each way. Can't wait to try it on the King!!!
Went from 2003 low rider to a 2011 electra glide ultra classic this bike is pissa. Got it in march of this year been doing a lot more riding then I ever did on the low rider so don't think this is a old mans bike this is a smart mans bike.
Remember when all the other kids got on the BIG bus and then the little bus came for you? That's why! Congratulations! your hips and back will thank you!

I've done 3 4000ish mile trips with 600+ mile days on a XL1200 (sportster) in my early 20s. I was 6' and 220 lbs then... I'm not claiming to be smart, but having ridden that bike and slowly making my way to touring over that last 15 years, I'm getting smarter.
But your point holds true for me, I ain't heading back anytime soon, although, I may add a dyna to the fleet at some point.
Did the same thing Harry, '04 Low Rider to a '11 Ultra Classic Peace Officer Special Ed., found it in May with 3400 miles on it and couldn't say no, actually my wife made the decision for her comfort while riding during the winter in Florida. I'm 64 so I guess mine is an old man's bike !
