Not sure about the Harley ECM but with the Tmax there can be a minor issue.
The problem while simultaneously powering up and maneuvering the bike is, it might misread the actual 'zero throttle position' upon power up. It will take a few seconds to sort things out and throw an engine code for 'throttle position error'.
Sometimes I start before I begin to back out of the garage, then other times I wait until in the drive way to start. Will not hurt anything either way. I just don't start "while" I am backing out.
I'm not an HD tech, but as others have said I don't think you'll hurt the bike. The better habit is to get the bike pointed in the direction you want to go before hitting the start button. I've seen more than one guy (guys I know who are good riders) forget it's in gear or let out the clutch too early with it in gear and head somewhere the didn't really want to. I'm not saying this would happen to you, but never say "never". Personally I start only in neutral and pointed where I wanna go in case I do screw up.
I like to start mine before I back it out of the garage. It gives the engine a few seconds to get the oil up to where it needs to be before I put in under load.
I guess the question I really wanted to ask is if scoot is rolling backwards and I engage the starter are there any parts that are going backwards and now all of a sudden they are going forward by engaging starter.... anyone following what im trying to find out here?? bear with me...
