Default Dyno Tuning

So I need some insight, bought my 06 Eglide 3 years ago, then bought rinehart 3.5 true duals. I personally never dyno tuned this bike but I know alot of guys do. is it really worth the money to have it done? what are the pluses involved other than braggin bout what HP you might be pushing. is it noticeably different in performanc and fuel mileage.

If ya been riding it for 3 years without issue ya may not care but a proper dyno tune, even on a stock bike, will get optimal power and drive-ability. Depending on the current tune ya may or may not feel a lot of difference. I have had four tunes on my EG and most folks may be happy with any of them but I know it still isn't right. There was a big difference between them all. It really has to do finding a good tuner!

IMo if you have been riding for that's few years and don't have any major complaints don't waste your money on a dyno tune. On a stock bike or most stage 1 bikes there will be a difference with a good tune but its not huge in most cases, a reduction in heat , a little better mileage, crisper response. But if you don't have complaints about your bike you probably won't fine it money well spent.

If your looking to add cams , heads or additional engine mods then a good tune is a must. It's also a matter of each riders expectations. Some want to know that they are getting all, they can outof the bike ,others want a reliable bike that starts , stops and gets them off n a safe ride

Dyno tuning is nothing to do with bragging rights, they come at dyno shoot-outs, which are a very different thing! Tuning on a dyno is optimising the performance of the engine throughout the operating range. I am a convert to dyno tuning, having been persuaded to having my 107" done when first built. I later changed the exhaust and had it done at the same shop and the same guy and the improvement was remarkable. Still is!

If you have never experienced a well tuned bike, try it just once - I reckon you will be a convert too!

gr, please forgive me and let me explain, when i talk about bragging rights I have a story in mind, first I talk to alot of friends who talk about getting their bike dyno tuned and they carry the paper showing the difference before and after. to most of them it is just a number and that is really all they know about it, most of them have not been able to tell me if they seen a noticeable difference or not. the story is this, I have a friend at work who owns a late 90ish shadow. I built a trailer to pull behind my bike and was told he told a few other friends that my bike wasn't big enough to pull it(yea right I know). anyway I confronted him with the argurment. according to manufactures specs my 2006 electra glide standard with fuel injection pulls 65 hp. according to manufactuers his bike pulls 40 hp. I explained this to him and not poking but this guy is a little on the short side of intelligence due to the nature of his raising. anyway he called bullshit and said I had my bike on the dyno and it said my shadow pulls 90 hp, so I called bullshit lol. that is why I asked here because I know there are people here who can give me the info I need to calculate my decision. I believe I will get it done.

I can say the same. I tried the auto/smart tune route with several bikes over the past few years. The effort was considerable and the results were just OK. The dyno result was great!

Had my bike dyno tuned this summer for the first time. Bike runs much cooler and improved mpg. Overall I'm glad I paid for it. Money well spent.
